Training & Ongoing Support
You don’t need to know a worm gear from a limit switch on day one. We’ve built Ironworks Gate Co. to bring good people into a trade that rewards patience and precision. Our training turns operators into gate mechanics, and our support keeps you from ever feeling like you’re figuring it out alone. The phone rings, a live person answers, and you’ve got backup. That’s how we’ve done it since 1984, and that’s how your franchise runs from the first swing.
Initial Training
Week one starts at our training facility, not in a conference room with a projector. You’ll work on actual gates: chain-link driveway gates with sagging frames, estate iron with seized hinges, slide gates with chewed-up racks. You’ll learn to read a motor’s amp draw the way a blacksmith reads heat in steel. By week two, you’re into the business systems: our dispatch software, the estimating playbook, how to price a weld repair so there’s no surprises on the bill.
We cover hiring too. How to find apprentices with steady hands and teach them the K.E.Y.S. code: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. Marketing setup walks you through local lead generation, neighborhood targeting, and the standing offers that bring first calls: the $89 Seasonal Tune-Up, the $50 Off Any Repair Over $250, the free second opinion that builds trust before you swing a wrench. You’ll leave training with a truck stocked, software running, and a schedule of your first jobs already taking shape.
Launch Support
Opening day, a field coach rides with you. Not to hover. To make sure your first hinge adjustment is square, your first motor install is clean, your first customer sees a uniformed technician who works like he’s in his mother’s driveway. We set up your local marketing engine: Google Business Profile, neighborhood service pages, the direct mail that still works in towns where people’ve been in their houses twenty years and plan to stay.
Those first jobs matter. We help you price them right, schedule them tight, and deliver the Keystone Standard from day one: 90 days, in writing, no arguing. Most jobs, you’ll complete in a single visit. That’s the goal we coach toward. Your coach stays available through your first thirty days, then checks in weekly until you’re turning calls into completed jobs without thinking twice.
Ongoing Support
- Field coaching: Regular ride-alongs and video review of tricky installs. A burnt-out LiftMaster actuator, a FAAC board with intermittent faults, a Viking operator that won’t learn its limits. We’ve seen it, we show you.
- Marketing engine: Seasonal campaigns, offer refreshes, and neighborhood-targeted materials that keep the phone ringing. We know which zip codes in your market have the fifty-year-old gates and the homeowners who call, not click.
- Nine-brand technical network: Direct vendor relationships with LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. Parts availability, warranty processing, firmware updates. You don’t build these relationships from scratch; you step into them.
- Technology and software: Dispatch, routing, invoicing, and the customer portal that lets homeowners approve estimates before you turn a bolt. Updates roll out to every location; you don’t maintain servers or chase compatibility.
- National brand campaigns: The “Proudly serving local communities for over 42 years” story that opens doors in every market. The 24/7 live-answer promise that separates us from the one-man shops who send you to voicemail.
- Peer network: Franchise owners on the same nine brands, facing the same seasonal rushes, sharing what works in Phoenix versus Pittsburgh. You’re independent in your territory, never isolated in your business.
You’re Never Alone
A century ago every town had an ironworks, and the gates it made are still swinging. We’re building that again: local owners, trained crews, companies that sponsor the county fair and plan to be there in thirty years. If you’ve got the work ethic and the head for a square deal, we’ve got the rest.
