Franchise FAQ
We’re looking for owners who understand that a gate is the first thing a homeowner touches when they come home and the last thing they trust before they sleep. If that matters to you, read on.
Common Questions
Do I need experience in gate repair or construction to own an Ironworks franchise?
No. We’ve built our training for owners who know how to run a business and treat people square, not necessarily how to weld a hinge or program a LiftMaster board. Victor Salinas, our founder, came up through the trades, but our most successful franchisees have backgrounds in operations, military service, or running another service company. You’ll hire and train technicians. We teach you the gate side.
What is the total investment range to open an Ironworks Gate Co.?
Total investment typically runs between $185,000 and $340,000, depending on your market size, whether you lease or buy vehicles, and local build-out costs. That covers your territory rights, initial equipment inventory, branded vehicles, training, and launch marketing. We don’t hide numbers behind a discovery day. If you’re serious, we’ll walk through the line items on a call.
Is financing available?
Yes. Most of our franchisees use a combination of SBA-backed loans, equipment financing, and personal investment. We’ve worked with preferred lenders who understand our model and can move quickly. The $50,000 liquid capital requirement is firm, but we don’t expect you to write a check for the full amount on day one.
How large is my territory, and is it exclusive?
Each franchise receives a protected territory of approximately 250,000 to 400,000 population, defined by county lines and natural market boundaries. No other Ironworks Gate Co. will open inside your territory. We’ve seen what happens when brands cannibalize their own people, and we don’t do it. Your territory is yours to grow.
How long is the initial training program?
Four weeks. Two weeks at our headquarters working through technical training on all nine automation brands, our K.E.Y.S. values code, pricing systems, and the 90-Day Done Right Promise. Two weeks in an operating market riding with a veteran owner, watching how the calls come in, how the technicians talk to homeowners, how the day actually flows. You’ll touch a welder. You won’t leave a master of it, but you’ll know what right looks like.
What ongoing fees or royalties should I expect?
We charge a standard royalty on gross revenue and a modest marketing fund contribution that supports national brand building and shared creative. There are no hidden technology fees, no mandatory purchasing through us at inflated prices, no surprise assessments. We make our money when you make yours, and we keep it simple.
How long does it take to open after I sign?
Most franchisees open their doors in 90 to 120 days. The variables are local permitting for your facility, vehicle upfitting, and how quickly you identify and hire your lead technician. We’ve had motivated owners do it faster. We’ve seen others take their time to find the right first hire. Either way works if it’s done right.
What support do you provide after I’m open?
A live person answers your call, just like we answer homeowner calls. You’ll have a dedicated franchise business coach, technical support line with factory-trained specialists for all nine brands, shared marketing materials and seasonal campaigns, and access to our national pricing database. When a Ghost Controls board fails in a way you haven’t seen, someone here has. When you need to know what a hinge repair goes for in a market like yours, we’ve got the data. You’re in business for yourself, not by yourself.
What does the ideal Ironworks franchisee look like?
Someone who’s managed people and P&L, who understands that showing up when you say you’ll show up is a competitive advantage, and who wants to build something that lasts past their own retirement. Our heritage dates to 1984, and we choose owners who plan to be in their community for the next forty years. You don’t need to have swung a hammer. You do need to believe that the 400th job deserves the care of the first.
What’s my next step if I want to learn more?
Call our franchise development line at (833) 754-7503. A real person will answer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Not a voicemail tree, not a callback queue. We’ll send you our franchise disclosure document, schedule a call with our development team, and if it makes sense for both sides, we’ll invite you to spend a day with an operating owner. No pressure, no hard close. We’re building a network of people we trust to carry the name. That takes time to get right.
Still Have Questions?
We’re not going to tell you this is a “ground-floor opportunity” or any of that talk. We will tell you that driveway gates aren’t going away, that homeowners are automating older installations faster than ever, and that a company with a 90-Day Done Right Promise and a live voice on the phone stands out in a field of voicemail and vanish acts. Call (833) 754-7503 anytime, or fill out the form below and we’ll call you back within one business day.
